Ampersand's Unprimed Basswood Artist Panel is a smooth, absorbent, uncoated panel that is free from plywood seams, knots, or troublesome raised fibers.

Unprimed Basswood can be used with a variety of media, and they are designed to hold up to heavy layers of thick paint and pouring applications. Unless you're working with encaustics or pyrography, we recommend you seal and prime these panels before use to avoid absorption, feathering, or distortion of pigments on the raw wood.
