About the event
Join LuAnne Holladay, experienced bookmaker and paper and textile artist, for this back-to-basics session on saddle stitch bookbinding. This beginner-friendly class will guide you through the process of folding, assembling, and binding your own hand-stitched booklets using just a few simple tools. Saddle stitch is one of the oldest and most accessible bookbinding methods, making it perfect for zines, poetry, journaling, sketching, and more.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn how to measure and punch holes, select and prepare papers, and stitch your pages together with thread. You’ll create at least one finished booklet during instruction time, and then have an additional hour of open studio access with the instructor to continue experimenting and creating independently. Materials will be available for unlimited use during this period, so you can make as many booklets as inspiration allows!
No prior experience is necessary—all tools and materials are provided.
