About the event

In this two-part series, you're invited to thoughtfully engage with intention in the creation of your own handmade memory book. Led by experienced bookmaker and curator of stories LuAnne Holladay, this workshop is both reflective and process-focused and will leverage playful mark-making, mixed media techniques, and basic binding constructions.

In Session 1, LuAnne will guide participants in using different tools and media to alter a large sheet of paper on both sides. You'll experience different materials for inclusion in the final form of the memory book and will explore creative approaches to collecting and preserving paper keepsakes. The class will conclude with recommendations for mementos to bring to Session 2 on Saturday.


For Session 2, the class will return to transform their altered papers into beautiful, small-but-mighty books to contain their own mementos. The process will include simple but elegant folding techniques and an introduction to pamphlet stitching. The result…
